The Woo Woo Company is a community for skeptical hippies, bringing new, unique health and wellness concepts to Washington, D.C. We bring the topics. You decide what works for you.
A Few of Our Favorite Things
While we're busy planning for future events, we thought we'd share a curated calendar of events of woo woo happening around D.C. and a map of some of our favorite places. You can add the calendar to your own personal one so you're always in the know. This weekend, there's Catharthis on the Mall (weekend of music, arts, healing, and more) and a sound meditation at The Glow Club (see below!). Enjoy!
Retrogrades All Around
There are currently three planets in retrograde: Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn. What does this all mean? Jupiter represents wisdom, luck, and growth. Reflect on past experiences and appreciate how you've grown. (Started at the beginning of April and will last until August.) When Pluto is in retrograde, it's a time of transformation. You'll dive deep into your fears and your "shadow self." Take time to pause to understand why you're feeling or reacting a certain way. We'll be simmering in this until October so buckle up! During Saturn Retrograde (Starts today! Ends in September.), analyze where you've stepped up to take responsibility and what things you've needed to release from your life. Have you been working towards a life that is aligned and one that works for you?
Woo Woo Spotlight: What are the Akashic Records?
The Akashic Records contain all that was, is and will be for everything and everyone. All possibilities exist. It’s a collective spiritual consciousness that allows for deeper understanding of yourself when accessed. Someone can open your records or you can learn how to access them yourself. You start off by asking questions or allowing information from the records to be shared with you. We'll be hosting an event soon for a collective reading so stay tuned!

Akashic is derived from Akasha, a Sanskrit word meaning space or sky and the basis of all things in the world.

Through the Grapevine
There is a lot of buzz in the astrology and general "new age" space, which isn't really new age anymore and actually mainstream. This month Co-Star (astrology app) got $5 million in funding. So we'll be getting more of those hilariously, mysterious daily push notifications about your day ahead. The New York Times recently published an article hinting that investors are very interested in getting woo woo.
Books to Expand the Mind
We've come across many book recommendations these last few weeks and had to share this one with you!

Food of the Gods by Terence McKenna: Role of drugs throughout history and how it connects us with the divine. The description from the publisher alone is 100.

"In Food of the Gods, ethnobotanist Terence McKenna’s research on man’s ancient relationship with chemicals opens a doorway to the divine, and perhaps a solution for saving our troubled world. McKenna provides a revisionist look at the historical role of drugs in the East and the West, from ancient spice, sugar, and rum trades to marijuana, cocaine, synthetics, and even television—illustrating the human desire for the “food of the gods” and the powerful potential to replace abuse of illegal drugs with a shamanic understanding, insistence on community, reverence for nature, and increased self-awareness."
